ਨਾਮ ਸਜਣ ਦਾ ਜੀਭ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਗਿਅਾ, ਜਾਂ ਸੱਜਣ ਉੱਠ ਤੁਰਿਅਾ, ਮੱਲ ਲਏ ਦੋ ਨੈਣ ਧਿਅਾਨ ਨੇ, ਸਬਕ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਦਾ ਫੁਰਿਅਾ॥ ਬਿਰਹੋਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਸੌਂਪ ਅਸਾਨੂੰ ਜੇ ਸੱਜਣ! ਤੂੰ ਰਾਜ਼ੀ, ਯਾਦ ਤੁਸਾਡੀ ਛੁਟੇ ਨ ਸਾਥੋਂ,ਪਿਅਾਰ ਰਹੇ ਲੂੰ ਪੁੜਿਅਾ॥

One day we will all depart this world, leaving our own stamp on it, hoping we made it a better place for our loved ones. There is no doubt that you, Jagtar Veerji/Uncle, passed this test with flying colours. It is in this context that we will remember you. One rarely meets a human being whose mere presence inspires good behaviour. Simply by being yourself, you constantly inspired us to be good, to be caring, to be compassionate and to be non-judgemental. To veer in any other direction would have been to break your unwritten code of behaviour. You have left long memories with us, even though we had only gotten to know you better since Nummi and Jot's wedding. We will always remember how eloquently you spoke at their reception. Yet for all the praise your poetry and writings have received, your actions always spoke louder than your words, truly conveying the person you were inside. Of course, we will miss you. But we will also remember and celebrate you for your kindness and your unwavering commitment to your family. We feel honoured to have shared a bit of our journey with yours.
